Glossary of Craps terms
Ace Deuce: A bet placed on the next roll of the dice showing a total of three (consisting of a 2 and a 1).
Aces: A bet that the next roll of the dice will show a total of two (consisting of two 1s).
Action: All bets that are currently active on the table.
Against the Dice: Placing bets on Don’t Pass and Don’t Come.
Any Craps: A bet that the next roll of the dice will show a total of 2, 3, or 12.
Any Seven: A bet that the next roll of the dice will show a total of 7.
Any Twelve: A bet that the next roll of the dice will show a total of 12.
Apron: The outer edge of the craps table.
Back Line: Another term for Don’t Pass Line.
Bar 12: When a push occurs on Don’t Pass and Don’t Come bets due to a roll of 12.
Behind the Line: Odds placed on Pass/Come/Don’t Pass/Don’t Come bets.
Big 8: A bet that an 8 will be rolled before a 7.
Big 6: A bet that a 6 will be rolled before a 7.
Big Red: A bet on any 7.
Bones: Slang term for dice.
Boxcars: A bet that two 6s will be rolled on the next roll of the dice.
Box Numbers: A bet placed on 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10.
Buffalo: A five-unit bet placed on each of the hard way numbers and any seven.
Buy Bet: Another term for Place Bet.
Cand E: A two-part bet, with one part on 2, 3, or 12 and another on 11.
Centre Bets: Bets placed in the center section of the craps table.
Come Bet: A Pass-line bet placed after the Come Out roll.
Come Out Roll: The first roll of the dice in a new round.
Corner Red: The section of the craps table where the numbers 6 and 8 are in red.
Crap Out: When a shooter rolls a 2, 3, or 12 on the Come Out roll and the round ends.
Craps: A roll of 2, 3, or 12 on the Come Out roll.
Craps Numbers: The numbers 2, 3, and 12.
Don’t Come Bet: A bet placed after the Come Out roll that a 7 will be rolled before the point number.
Don’t Pass Bet: A bet placed on 2, 3, or 12, and which loses if 7 or 11 is rolled.
Double Odds: An odds bet on Pass, Don’t Pass, Come, or Don’t Come at twice the amount of the original bet.
Easy Way: A number combination that can be rolled in two ways.
Even Money: A bet that pays out the same amount as the original wager.
Eyeballs: Slang term for the number 2.
Field Bet: A bet that one of the following numbers (2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12) will be rolled on the next roll of the dice.
Front Line Bet: Another term for Pass Line Bet.
Garden: Another term for Field Bet.
Hard Way: A roll of 4, 6, 8, or 10 made up of a pair of the same numbers.
Hi-Lo: A bet that the next roll of the dice will be a 12 or a 2.
Hop Bet: A type of wager on any combination of the dice.
Horn Bet: A single bet on the numbers 2, 3, 11, or 12.
Inside Bet: A bet placed on the numbers 5, 6, 8, or 9.
Inside Numbers: The numbers 5, 6, 8, and 9.
Insurance Bet: Two or more bets that cover each other in case one of them loses.
Lay Odds: An additional bet on the Don’t Come and Don’t Pass bets.
Line Bet: A bet on either the Pass Line or Don’t Pass Line.
Midnight: A bet on the number 12, also known as Any Twelve.
Natural: A roll of 7 or 11 on the Come Out roll.
Odds Bet: An extra wager behind the Pass, Come, Don’t Pass, or Don’t Come bet.
One Roll Bet: A bet on the outcome of the next dice roll.
Outside Numbers: The numbers 4, 5, 9, and 10.
Parlay: A strategy of increasing the bet amount by adding the winnings to the original bet.
Pass Line Bet: A bet on the Come Out roll resulting in a 7 or 11.
Place Bet: A bet on any of the numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 before a 7 is rolled.
Place Numbers: The numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10.
Press a Bet: To double the original bet amount.
Seven Out: When a 7 is rolled before a point number in a round of Craps.
Shooter: The player who throws the dice.
Snake Eyes: A roll of two ones.
Take Odds: A side bet on the Pass or Come bets with true odds.
Take Me Down: When a player asks for their bet to be returned.
Two-Way: A bet split between the player and the dealer.
Working Bet: An active bet that stays on the table from roll to roll.
Yo: Slang for the number 11.
